Quantock Hills
The Quantock Hills was England's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and consist of large amounts of heathland, oak woodland, ancient parklands and agricultural land. The various habitats, together with the wide range of slopes and aspects, provide ideal conditions for a rich fauna. It is an important bird area with breeding populations of pied flycatcher, wood warbler, stonechat and even peregrine falcon and nightjar. The Quantocks are also known for red deer and in the peak mating season or rut (mid-October), loud roaring of fully grown stags is heard echoing around our farm.
The Quantocks are famous for their exhilirating cycling routes and bridle ways. To find out more visit their website.
